I am going to keep it short.
I am sure many of you are aware of the comments made by Rush Limbaugh regarding a Georgetown University student who testified before Congress regarding the recent contraception debate.
While Limbaugh is an influential Conservative radio show host, he does not represent the official voice of the Republican Party.
Yes, he used words that I do not think he should have used. But what happened to our freedom of speech?
The liberal media have spun this into something they can use to attack the Republican Party. Not taking into account that Limbaugh's views are not the views of the party.
While I am sure most of you are at least aware of this controversy, I was wondering if you had ever heard Bill Maher's comments on Sarah Palin.
Imagine if this was Rush Limbaugh saying this about Michelle Obama....Republicans would never hear the end of it.
And while President Obama will condemn Limbaugh for his comments, He would not want to condemn Maher for his, especially after recently receiving a small donation towards his reelection campaign from Maher....for the amount of $1,000,000.
Think Outside the Box
Wow. That was pretty rude of him. No one deserves to made fun of so blatantly and in front of such a large audience (both physically there and those of us watching this video).
ReplyDelete"Limbaugh's views are not the views of the party."
ReplyDeleteWell if that's the case, then contraceptives are covered by health care, right? Don't be so naive as to believe that Limbaugh doesn't have a significant influence over the views of the Republican Party and it's base. I mean this is obvious since you took the time to write a post about it.
Limbaugh is the poster child of the Republican Party.
Also you remaining argument is contradicting. You attack the liberal media for attacking the Republican party. Do you watch Fox News? They are just as guilty of this sort of smearing as any other public figures representing the left. The right is not a victim here.
Greetings Friend,
ReplyDeleteWhile I commend you for your spirit, I have to disagree. While Rush Limbaugh may have an impact on some people, he certainly does not exert influence on the party. The Republicans do not base their platform based on a talk show host.I would disagree that Fox News smears people. And while you may have your own opinion regarding the bias of the network. I make the argument that there is a difference between bias and truth.
Please, don't patronize me. Limbaugh is undoubtedly one of the top three most influential conservatives. "some people" is a gross understatement.
ReplyDeleteFox News is bias. This is unfortunately a fact, regardless of personal opinion. Fox is not about getting you the news, it's sole purpose is to get Republicans elected. But not just any Republicans, however. Only those that one Rupert Murdoch endorses. There is a reason we don't see Ron Paul being portrayed as a viable candidate on their network.
So, The Grand Old Party utilizes this power, along with the Republic rhetoric spewing Limbaugh, to get people to adopt the views of the Republican party. I'd say that's pretty influential.
Friend,
ReplyDeleteAgain I am impressed by your conviction, but you seem mad. Fox News trademark phrase is "Fair and Balanced", I would challenge your understanding of the truth before I questioned the networks bias.
Again Limbaugh is only popular among some members of the Republican base. The base only makes up 25% of the party.
As to Ron Paul, He is great. I will be writing a blog post about him and encourage you to stay posted.
Quiet the opposite, I've really gotten a kick out of these posts.
ReplyDeleteHowever, your circular logic is quiet amusing. Fox News is fair and balanced! Well how do you know this? Because Fox News tells me so!
What your failing to understand is that the Conservative platform is not infallible. FNC's job is to tell Conservatives what is right in accordance with their ideology. So, of course it seems like truth to you because they're appealing to your Conservative beliefs. But, this does not make it truth.
All this post does is add to the increasingly polarized political climate in this country. It accomplishes nothing. So, keep beating away at that Conservative drum of yours, and hopefully sometime in the future, the dick measuring will stop and we'll all be able to come together as Americans and accomplish tasks that are actually beneficial to the people.
Also, I sincerely apologize for hijacking the comment section, and you should do a post of OWS, I would enjoy reading your thoughts.
Thanks for your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteIll keep that in mind about the Occupy movement
God bless
